Meet b3’s newest team member Deanna! With a love for sports and helping others, her career into Remedial massage (*and plans to study physiotherapy), has been a natural progression. Assisting athletes and weekend warriors is her top priority, but above all, helping clients to understand their bodies and how to make impactful changes is her passion.

I am a born and bred Adelaidean who realised very early in life that I had a passion for sports, probably inherited from my father who used to teach me and my brother how to footy tackle as soon as we could walk. This passion led to my participation in numerous sports much to the dismay of my taxi driving mum.

My favourite was basketball and it has been a huge part of my life since I was seven.

I started playing in Juniors for my local club and am still playing in the State Premier League team for Woodville Warriors. Sports is such big part of my life and this was the main reason I wanted to work in the health sector.

I have seen first-hand the amount of work athletes put into their sport and the impacts of injuries which drove my desire to help athletes in their health and wellbeing to keep them performing in what they love doing.

I discovered my passion in remedial massage as I enjoy helping people with their health and this job not only gives me the chance to do that but it also gives me the opportunity to watch clients progress towards their own goals, which is extremely rewarding.

I began my study at Flinders University, where I graduated with a degree in Health Science. From there I went to study my Diploma in Remedial Massage at the Australian Institute of Fitness which I completed in September 2017. I am also currently a massage therapist at Woodville West Torrens Football Club, and am enjoying working thoroughly with the senior players and assisting them with their injury management and muscle fitness.

My long-term goal now is to continue into Physiotherapy and Human Movement to further expand my knowledge about the structure and function of the human body to allow me to further help clients in more complex rehabilitation programs and injury management.

During my treatment, clients will experience an in-depth examination to assess existing problems and any underlying causes and treatment plan discussed to achieve the desired outcome.  Self-treatment techniques and tips will be demonstrated at the end of the treatment which can be done between sessions to ensure quicker recover and results.

I would love for every client to walk away with a greater understanding and comfort about how the treatment is helping them and how massage is such an important part of their ongoing health.
